Welcome to my club!

I am Ariel Gleicher, a sixteen-year-old junior. I was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil but moved to Weston, Florida, when I was four months old where I lived for fourteen years. During the turbulent times of the recent world pandemic, my father was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor, so my family and I moved back to Sao Paulo to be closer to his immediate family.

Let me tell you about the roots of my project!

Looking back at my childhood, the vibrant and multicultural ambiance that makes up the city of Weston shaped me into a more culturally aware individual who thrives in international settings. Through the many volunteering opportunities and school clubs I participated in, I continuously experienced working collaboratively with people from different countries and backgrounds. This led me to develop an appreciation for the diversity of traditions, and more importantly, construct life-long friendships.

Some of my deepest passions are sports, especially soccer, volunteering to help people, and spending time with family and friends. My many volunteering experiences in middle school such as with Craig’s Pantry, Safety Patrol, and Kids in Distress are the roots of my entrepreneurial tendencies. While helping Kids in Distress, I started sewing pillows to be donated to foster children for emotional comfort and support. When I joined the Junior Achievement Project, I helped teachers and mentors create materials for their classes that would help make the lessons more interesting by designing numerous posters, fliers, and handouts that were later incorporated into their daily teachings.

Stimulated by these activities, and because I was the youngest son, I was always fueled with project ideas. In 6th grade, I had the idea of selling chocolate in the streets to raise funds for my brother’s team to pay their expenses to play soccer against teams in other states. The idea grew into a much larger fundraising that successfully led them to different matches. I also offered to wash horses at neighboring farms in Weston and read the favorite books of residents of the elderly homes. With a natural autistic mindset,  I would independently seek activities to help others or raise funds for different causes. Through these experiences, I gained a rich repertoire of skills like effective communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.

It was when I started high school that I saw the opportunity to create my own entrepreneurship club since Graded School has an extremely supportive and motivational extracurricular department. Combining my passion for sports, both as a Junior Varsity and Varsity soccer, and my entrepreneurial experiences, I formulated a club that would fuse these interests. When I presented my newly designed Graded Sports Entrepreneurship Club (GSE) to the head of the high school extracurricular activities in my school, he immediately approved it.

The success of the club and the work of many dedicated members inspired me to create this website to display and celebrate a work worth sharing.

I hope you enjoy it and maybe become inspired to also turn your passion into your own club or organization.

Sincerely,

Ariel H. Gleicher
